Rachel is the best grandma anyone could ever ask for. All of my friends that have met her have always told me how she is the best and I am so lucky. When I was in junior high and was transitioning from elementary school to junior high one thing that I will always remember is how much Rachel was there for me. When I think about this all I can do is smile because she was always right there for me. I used to call her everyday when I got home from school and tell her ALL about my day, and we would stay on the call for over an hour.
Now looking back at that and thinking about that, I do not know how she put up with that. Shoutout Rachel for listening to my ANNOYING voice and listening to ALL my annoying stories. Around that time too she would always help me with my homework and my essays. I have always struggled with starting essays and getting the hang on the rhythm of the essay. I would always call her, share the document with her, and she would help me write it.
In October of 2018 me, my dad, and my two friends took a long weekend trip down to Lawrence. We stayed at Rachel’s and it was just such a good time because if I’m being honest.. all the attention from Rachel was on me and not half my sisters and half me for once :)! We just sat and talked on her couch for hours every night just talking about everything.
One of the days we were there, Andy gave us a tour of the KU campus and it was such a FUN day! I will always remember it and Rachel, Andy, and my dad made it such a special day for me.
Another fun memory of Rachel is Phil’s Salad. She made it once while we were together and I fell in love with the salad. After that, every special event when we were together we always made it together and it was our little thing and had such a special meaning to me. She knew I loved it so every time we got together she always had the ingredients since she knew I loved it so much.
Rachel is the best person and grandma ever. I am thankful for all the memories I have with her because she always makes me have a smile on my face when I am with her. I love you Rachel with all of my heart thank you for everything <3
